Popular Indian national news is telecast from different TV channels. All the major TV channels have included at least one national news channel in its pocket. Launching a satellite channel is a big headache and news gathering is a tough task. In spite of all these hassle the all the electronic channels in India struggle hard to gather all the important Indian news be it national or local. These news channels have changed the concept of Indian news. They have changed the format of National news. By 1990s Doordarshan had monopoly over Indian national news. But now the private channels have taken over Doordarshan. In India these private channels make wide coverage of Indian news.

The main feature of all the Todays national news bulletins is their high quality visuals, god editing, topicality and objectivity also. Thus Indian news has travelled a long way right from DD age to that of Times Now and NDTV. From local to national all Indian news is brought under the purview of these channels. In fact television in India has undergone significant changes in present era of globalization. To understand the metamorphosis, one needs to have a look of the path covered by the channels so far. It was in 1959 that Akashwani Bhavan in New Delhi was chosen for one hour news program on health, education, citizens right and traffic sense. It was in 1972 that DD channel was launched. The aim of this channel was promoting the national integration. Indian viewers enjoyed the colored version of the Asian Games and with this new trend in Indian news; the news started spreading in every nook and corner of India.

Indian government left no stone unturned to expand the National news broadcasting geographically and demographically. In 1983 only 29 percent of the Indian population had an access to the television channel. It got doubled in 1985. By the end of 1990 national news could reach at leach 90 percent of the Indian population. In 1984 DD Metro was launched. Its main purpose was to telecast entertaining programs to the urban viewers. It was confined to metropolitan cities only. In 1988 The NDTV launched a program called world this week. It was a national news based program but it tried to cover international news to a great extent. It was telecast on every Friday. It had a very big commercial success. It changed the panorama of Indian news.

After 1990 satellite television in India become transnational. CNN introduced international satellite television in India in 1991. After that Z became the first private Hindi news channel of India catering to viewers for Indian or national news. In 1995 NDTV became the first private producer of Indian news called News Tonight. It was followed by Aaj Tak on DD metro. At present news channels are mushrooming like anything. They cover all types of national news and there is a fierce competition among these channels to get top TRP rank. Every year a new news channel comes up with a different hue and tries to cater to the Indian viewers with small or big national news.

Forthood, Texas Rampage: A Worshipper’s Hardhearted Attack

 ”Allahu Akbar!” This was the Arabic phrase, which means “God is great!”, was mentioned by Major Nidal Malik Hasan before firing his gun that killed 13 people and wounded 31 people in Forthood, Texas.

The psychiatrist of the Muslim army was said to attend morning prayers in a local mosque just hours before the bloddy rampage occured. It was reported that Hasan is devoted to his Muslim faith but was anxious by his future deployment to Afghanistan to be part of a war effort he is opposed to partly on religious grounds.

But, Hasan’s real plan for the rampage is still ambiguous while he is still in coma.

The killings was claimed as the most horrendous shooting that happened on United States military base.

So what went bad to the state of mind of Major Hasan that he committed a mass killing? This may be the question that is playing to the minds of many concerned individuals now after the news about the bloddy killings in Forthood, Texas broke out. Is he a real madman? Or was he driven by his Muslim belief?

The fact that Hasan is affiliated to the Muslim religion gave a crucial twist to his case. Everyone knows that religious faith is a topic that will always be controversial, especially if the concerned faith is Muslim. This is the reason why the religious action of Major Hasan like praying in the mosque and shouting “God is great!” before he shooted those people are taken seriously by everyone.

It is possible that Hasan encountered some religious harassment that fueled his rage to do such brutal action, especially that he’s depicted to have a solid devotion to his Muslim faith. However, his religious association might not be the main factor in this story. After he fired his gun for 100 rounds and he killed 13 people and it comprises of an expecting woman and he seriously harmed 31 people, Major Hasan could be claimed to have a problem in his state of mind. And It’s not impossible.

And there may still be other point of views, but as long as Major Hasan remained in coma, the only thing we could do is guess and give opinions. It is definitely not correct to judge or make a conclusion that Major Hasan do such horrendous crime was because of his religious faith.
